Start from the dental clinic model (free sign-up). A clinic with no beds is item (6)イ(4) of Table 1 of Japan’s Fire Service Act Enforcement Order. In this article, with the members’ dental clinic taken as a single-storey building of its own, your AI checks the fire equipment. It ran the same tools an AI calls over MCP. Every figure and number below comes from that run.
1. The dental clinic
- A ground floor of 15.75 × 8.75 m = 137.81 m² on its outer walls’ centre lines holds five treatment units, the waiting room and reception, an X-ray room, a counselling room, an accessible toilet, sterilisation and a staff room.

2. The extinguishers
- Item (6)イ(4) needs extinguishers from 150 m² of total floor (Article 10(1)(ii)イ). At 137.81 m², a ground floor needs none.
- A basement, a windowless floor or a 3rd floor and up of 50 m² or more needs them whatever the total floor (Article 10(1)(v)): the same clinic on a building’s 3rd floor does.
3. The automatic fire alarm and the indoor hydrants
- An automatic fire alarm is needed from 300 m² of total floor (Article 21(1)(iii)イ), indoor hydrants from 700 m² (Article 11(1)(ii)). At 137.81 m², neither.
- In a tenancy, the whole building decides: a building of mixed uses, item (16)イ, needs an automatic fire alarm from 300 m² of total floor (Article 21(1)(iii)イ), for example.
4. The exit lights
- Item (6) needs exit lights and passage lights on every floor (Article 26(1)(i) and (ii)).
- On the floor with the way out, the exit lights may be left out where a way out is seen from every part of each room and within a walk of 20 m (Enforcement Regulations Article 28-2). The waiting room sees the entrance, a walk of 6.67 m.
- The treatment units, the X-ray room, the counselling room, sterilisation and the staff room do not, so none may be left out.
5. Flame-retardant curtains
- Item (6) is a building whose curtains and carpets must be flame-retardant (Order Article 4-3(1)): curtains, fabric blinds, carpets and the like with flame-retardant performance (Article 4-3(3)).
6. Using the check
- Draw your clinic (from a PDF drawing or photos as well), and tell your AI the floor it is on, the total floor and the building’s other uses.
- Not checked: the whole building’s fire equipment, whether the floor is windowless, the notices for X-ray equipment and the like, and the local fire department’s guidance.
