Those running a hospital’s buildings and fire safety, planning a new hospital or a refit, and wanting to check its fire equipment (sprinklers, detectors, extinguishers, escape devices)
A hospital’s fire equipment: sprinklers, detectors, extinguishers and escape devices in a hospital of five storeys, checked with your AI
Does a hospital (item (6)イ in Japan’s fire law) need sprinklers, an automatic fire alarm, a fire alarm to the fire service, extinguishers, indoor hydrants, exit lights and escape devices? How many detectors does a ward take? In the model of a hospital of an outpatient floor and four ward floors, your AI checks the drawing against the rules.

Start from the hospital model (no sign-up needed). A hospital with beds is item (6)イ(1) to (3) of the table appended to Japan’s fire service order (消防法施行令 別表第一). Much of its equipment is needed whatever its floor area, and escape devices are counted ward floor by ward floor. In this article, in the model of a hospital of an outpatient floor and four ward floors, your AI checks the drawing against the rules. It ran the same tools an AI calls over MCP. Every figure and number below comes from that run.
1. The hospital and the ward floor
Rooms of four and single rooms and the nurse station to the north; the lift hall, the sluice room, the pantry, the day room and rooms of four to the south; four extinguishers along the central corridor and stairs at either end; the walk from the day room’s south-east corner to an extinguisher
The 1st floor is the outpatient floor, 63.75 × 29.75 m = 1,896.56 m² to the outer walls’ centrelines. The 2nd to 5th floors are wards, 63.75 × 18.15 m = 1,157.06 m² each. The total floor is 6,524.8 m².
A ward floor has 38 beds: nine rooms of four and two single rooms. Two stairs, east and west.
On the 2nd floor, in one change (edit_space), the AI drew the corridor as a zone and put four extinguishers of 3 units each (an assumption) along it, clear of the doors. check_space finds nothing, before and after.

Item (6)イ(1) is a hospital with a specified department (internal medicine, orthopaedics and the like) and beds for long-term or general care (one with the arrangements a ministerial order sets is (3)).
The tools have no check for sprinklers or the fire alarm to the fire service, so the AI read them from the order itself. It checked the others with check_space.
For a hospital that needs sprinklers, the indoor hydrants’ line is 1,000 m² (with the floor of the parts the rules set added, taken here as none), not three times 700 m², even fire-resistant and finished in flame-retardant materials.
An item (6)イ building needs a fire prevention manager with 30 people or more (令第1条の2第3項第1号ロ), of class A (甲種) with 300 m² in all or more (令第3条第1項).
3. The detectors on a ward floor
With fireAlarm, the AI counted smoke detectors room by room and along the corridor of the 2nd floor (ceilings of 2.7 m).

A room takes one for each 150 m² with a ceiling under 4 m (消防法施行規則第23条第4項第7号ホ). A corridor takes one for each 30 m of walk (同号ヘ), and an item (6) corridor takes smoke detectors or combined heat and smoke spot detectors (同条第5項第2号).
The other rooms are the nurse station, the lift hall, the sluice room, the pantry and the day room. The toilets, the bath and the stairs are not counted.

The units are the total floor over 100 m², or over 200 m² if fire-resistant and finished in flame-retardant materials (消防法施行規則第6条第1項・第2項). This floor’s share is the floor as drawn (1,177.6 m²) over the same.
Four of 3 units give this floor 12: enough for its share either way. Each other floor takes its own share.
The farthest point is the day room’s south-east corner, a walk of 17.98 m to an extinguisher: every point is within 20 m (規則第6条第6項).
5. Escape devices
With escapeDevices, the AI counted the escape devices of the five floors. A ward floor’s occupant load is its 38 beds and 8 staff (an assumption): 46 (消防法施行規則第1条の3).

An item (6) building needs escape devices on its floors from the 2nd up with 20 people or more: one for 100 or fewer (令第25条第1項第1号・第2項第1号). The 1st floor, the evacuation floor, needs none.
Fire-resistant, with both direct stairs built as evacuation stairs (建築基準法施行令第123条), it is one for each 200 (規則第26条第1項); taking off the evacuation stairs leaves less than one, so none need be put (同条第2項).
If put, the 2nd floor takes a slide, a ladder, a rescue chute, a descender, a bridge or a gangway; the 3rd to 5th a slide, a rescue chute, a descender or a bridge (the table of 令第25条第2項第1号).
6. How to use this
Draw your hospital (from a PDF of the drawings or photos too), and tell the AI its departments and beds, its structure and finishes, how its stairs are built and the staff on each floor.
Not checked: whether it is built to hold a fire back, the arrangements the ministerial order sets, the outpatient floor’s detectors and extinguishers, the parts that need no sprinkler heads, emergency alarms, flame-proofing of curtains and the like, and notifying the fire station.
