Start from the animal hospital model (free sign-up; running a simulation is Pro). In the morning at an animal hospital, owners with their dogs and cats wait in the waiting room for a consultation. In this article, in the members’ new model of an animal hospital, your AI simulates a morning of consultations. It ran the same tools an AI calls over MCP. Every figure and number below comes from that run.

1. The animal hospital and the morning

Plan of the animal hospital
Three consulting rooms, the treatment room and the X-ray room to the north, the dogs’ waiting (west) and the cats’ waiting (east) to the south, with the hall and the reception between them, the entrance in the south wall
  • An animal hospital of 18 × 12 m with three consulting rooms, a treatment room of two tables and the X-ray room. The waiting is split between dogs (west) and cats (east), with the reception and the entrance between them. check_space finds nothing.

The AI wrote this flow as a scenario (put_process_scenario).

  • From 9:00 to 12:00, 30 owners come in at random: 40 % in the first hour, then 35 and 25 %. Checking in takes 1 minute.
  • 70 % bring a dog and wait in the dogs’ waiting, the others a cat in the cats’ waiting.
  • Each waits for the first free of the 2 vets and is seen at a consulting room’s exam table (5 to 15 minutes, most often 10).
  • 35 % then wait for the 1 veterinary nurse for a treatment in the treatment room (a blood test or an injection, 5 to 15 minutes, most often 8).
  • Last, each pays at the reception (2 to 5 minutes, most often 3) and leaves by the entrance.
  • Every number and time is an assumption. Put in your own hospital’s records.

2. The vets and the patients

The AI changed the vets (1, 2, 3) and the owners in the morning (24, 30, 36) (sweep_process_parameters), 20 runs each. The wait is the wait for a vet. The longest wait is the mean over the 20 runs of each run’s longest.

  • With 30 owners and 2 vets, the wait is 11.4 minutes on average and the longest 27.7. With 1 vet it is 82.5, with 3 it is 2.3.
  • Dogs and cats wait for the same vets. With the waiting split, for 30 owners and 2 vets the time in to out is about the same: 32.0 minutes for dogs and 31.8 for cats.

3. Those who book

With 30 owners, the AI changed the share who book (none, 50 %, all) and the vets. Those who book come at even intervals from 9:00 to 12:00.

  • When half book, even 2 vets keep the wait to 7.0 minutes on average. When all book it is 0.2 minutes: shorter than 3 vets with no bookings (2.3 minutes).

4. Treatments and the veterinary nurses

With 2 vets, the AI changed the share who have a treatment (20, 35, 50 %) and the veterinary nurses (1, 2). The wait is the wait for a treatment.

  • When half have a treatment, one veterinary nurse makes the wait for it 8.3 minutes on average. With two it is 0.2 minutes.

5. How to use this check

  • Draw your own hospital (from a PDF of the drawings or photos too), and tell your AI the owners each hour, the share of dogs and cats, the share who book, how long consultations and treatments take, and the vets and veterinary nurses. Your AI also puts an extra consulting room on the drawing and checks it.
  • Not checked: waiting for X-ray or test results, admissions and surgery, emergencies, consulting rooms kept for one kind of animal, boarding and grooming, and the afternoon.
