Start from the steel warehouse model (free sign-up). Japan’s Fire Service Act Order asks a warehouse (Appended Table 1, item 14) for extinguishers from 150 m² of total floor (Article 10(1)(ii)) and an automatic fire alarm from 500 m² (Article 21(1)(iv)). In this article, in the members’ steel warehouse (1,484.04 m² in all, a 6 m ceiling), your AI puts in extinguishers and checks them, and counts the detectors. It ran the same tools an AI calls over MCP. Every figure and number below comes from that run.
1. The extinguishers
Your AI checks with check_space’s extinguishers. At 1,484.04 m², 150 m² or more, the warehouse needs extinguishers. Article 6 of the Fire Service Act Rules asks a warehouse for one unit for each 100 m²: 14.84 units. This one is a quasi-fire-resistant building whose main structure is not fire-resistant, so the area does not double.
- Your AI puts five extinguishers of three units each (15 units) spread along the walls: on the west, north and east walls and two on the south (
edit_space). - Checked for a walk of 20 m at most from anywhere on the floor to the nearest, the office’s north-west corner is 20.27 m away: too far. It is the walk through the office door to the west wall’s extinguisher.
- In one change your AI moves the west wall’s extinguisher 2 m north. The farthest point is then 18.75 m: within 20 m.
2. The fire alarm’s detectors
At 500 m² or more, the warehouse needs an automatic fire alarm. Your AI counts the detectors with check_space’s fireAlarm.
- Counted on the model’s zones (the storage, the staging area and the office), 18 smoke detectors. But the floor without racks south and east of the office (197.65 m²) is in none of them.
- Outside the office the warehouse is one detection area with no walls between, so your AI draws its floor less the office as one zone (1,408.57 m²).
| Detectors | Warehouse floor (6 m ceiling) | Office (2.7 m ceiling) | In all |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smoke (class 2) | 19 (one for each 75 m²) | 1 (150 m²) | 20 |
| Differential heat (class 1) | 47 (30 m²) | 2 (50 m²) | 49 |
| Differential heat (class 2) | 57 (25 m²) | 2 (40 m²) | 59 |
- With the ceiling 4 m or higher, a smoke detector covers 75 m². A heat detector covers less where the main structure is not fire-resistant, so it takes more than twice as many as smoke.
3. Using the check
- Draw your warehouse (from a PDF drawing or photos as well), and tell your AI its total floor, its main structure and the ceiling’s height. The indoor fire hydrants are checked in “Check whether a warehouse needs indoor fire hydrants, and whether they reach every part, with your AI”.
- Not checked: storing designated combustibles (Articles 10(1)(iv) and 21(1)(viii)), how the warning areas are split, which detectors suit the place (smoke or dust), and where among the racks the detectors go.
